Product Description
When it was initially written in 1987, few could have predicted that The Leadership Challenge would become one of the best-selling leadership books of all time. Now, faced with the new challenges of our unpredictable global business environment, Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner-two of the country's premier leadership experts-have completely revised and updated their classic book. Building on the knowledge base of their previous books, the third edition of The Leadership Challenge is grounded in extensive research and based on interviews with all kinds of leaders at all levels in public and private organizations from around the world. In this edition, the authors emphasize that the fundamentals of leadership are the same today as they were in the 1980s, and as they've probably been for centuries. In that sense, nothing's new. Leadership is not a fad. While the content of leadership has not changed, the context has-and in some cases, changed dramatically.

Summary: Use It to Change Your Life
Comment: I've been using this book for years to help graduate students in Communication and Leadership to analyze and change their leadership behaviors.

The five principles are based on probably the most extensive research in leadership.
    Model the way.
    Inspire a shared vision.
    Challenge the process.
    Enable other to act.
    Encourage the heart.

Not a stuffy academic book, this readable work will give you an array of ideas you can employ in work, home, and community contexts. This book is the best one on the topic, and it just keeps getting better.

    Summary: Great Leadership Book
Comment: My coworker recommended this book to me, and it's one of the best leadership/management books I've ever read. There's great practical advice and teaches you how to treat your staff, coworkers, managers like human beings while still being an effective leader. I highly recommend this book for people entering the work force and first-time managers or managers who need a new perspective.

    Summary: Leadership in Business
Comment: I gave this book four stars because it is well written and very readable, but it is really designed for people interested in business and working in corporations; something I did not realize before I started. I feel like the chapters were a little wordy, but the "summaries" at the end of the chapter are nice.

    Summary: Excellent Book Review Comments
Comment: This is not only a good product, it has been dleivered in a timely and beneficial manner. In fact, I have both just added a second purchase of this book for one of my military friends, and have added it to my future "Gift List" for friends and relatives.

Summary: 10 pages of information stretched to 400
Comment: I am convinced that Jossey Bass will publish anything. I don't necessarily disagree with the material, however, it would make a better magazine article rather than a 400-page book. The authors go to an embarassing extreme in order to stretch the material out. See how I just used two sentences to make a single point? Annoying, right? This book uses pages and pages to illustrate rather pedestrian concepts. Ugggh!
