Product Description
The Firm: Tough Aerobic Mix combines mixed-impact cardiovascular exercise with strength-training techniques to create this complete-body challenge. Five instructors lead this variety-packed session with concentration on the major muscles (including the heart). This 48-minute course will test muscle endurance and aerobic capacities, so beginners may want to start off without any weights and keep the jumping to a minimum. These routines are easy enough for all levels to follow, and the choreography is not as demanding as the impact of these fast-paced moves. Plyometrics (quick moves that require control and strength) are integrated into the cardio sets and are key in raising heart rates and increasing agility. Intervals of weight training and isometric exercises, which are spliced between cardio sets, focus on lower and upper extremities. Leg and gluteal muscles are tested with a series of lunges, dips, and squats that incorporate the use of a step. The deltoid, bicep, and tricep muscles receive an equal dose of work as overhead presses, kickbacks, and curls are executed. Students will need weights (three to eight pounds) and a step (6 to 10 inches is recommended depending on the fitness level of the participant). The content here is solid but the music lacks a toe-tapping beat. If you can get past the music, participants will find a challenging interval workout that trains the body with an array of fitness-savvy exercises. --Olivia Voigts

    Summary: Awesome Workout!
Comment: I am a huge Firm fan, and I own a couple dozen Firm videos. This one is one of my favorite because it gets you sweating and working hard, it's a lot of fun, and you're done in about 45 minutes. I love that it has segments from the original Firm videos, which are tougher than the newer ones. It was put together nicely and it's really easy to follow. Get this video! You won't be disappointed.

    Summary: really a tough mix
Comment: This has aerobic parts from all the 6 original Firm workouts. The first time I did this tape I was going to beg for mercy. After a couple time I have grown to love it.It has all the original insructers featured on it.Susan Harris,Janet Gretzky,Sandahl Bergman, and all the others are featured on it.
You will need dumbells about 3-8 pounds,an aerobic step 6-to 10 inches tall.It also has a lot of floor aerobic on it with a lot of jumping jacks, runnin in place, and some fancy dance moves.I do not reccomend this tape for beginners.Intermediate to advanced is the level of this tape.It takes some getting used to.I love it.

Summary: Floor & step aerobics, very difficulty
Comment: "The Firm Parts: Not-So Tough Aerobics" is a combination of step aeorbics and standing floor moves, some with weights and some without. This tape was edited from about half a dozen earlier "The Firm" workout tapes -- 7 minutes here, 3 minutes there -- like one of those serial TV shows that shows bits & pieces from previous shows. The lady pictured on the cover fills in transitions between segments, telling you what equipment to get and how to stand to get ready for the next segment.

Tough Aerobics Mix" is an extremely challenging aerobic workout. Unlike most Firm workout tapes, this exercise session only uses light weights (3 to 5 lbs) and a low step (3" to 7"). So it is suitable for days between weightlifting sessions. Some of the exercises are low impact, and some segments are bouncy/high impact.

One problem with this workout tape is that the edits are disruptive. The visual transitions from set to set give the exercise session a "cheap" feel. Still, the overall workout is worthwhile.

I exercize regularly, but I just cannot keep up with the pace of this tape. I would recommend this tape only to people who are in excellent physical condition -- if you do 5+ hours of aerobics each week and 3+ hours of weightlifting, you'll greatly enjoy this tape.

This workout has background music that is enjoyable and varied. Visually, the workout quite entertaining: colorful backdrop, statues, murrals on The Wallb, and a variety of people exercising in different clothing. It looks like you are in a class with many other people.

Summary: an oldie, but a goodie
Comment: An excellent workout. Great for days when I don't have time to do a really long workout, don't want to do any weight lifting and want to keep my heart rate up the whole time (something I don't get with the newer firms).

I only wish it was on dvd.

    Summary: I love this workout
Comment: YES its from the 80's YES some of the people wear leg warmers SO WHAT? I own many types of exercise tapes and the FIRM are by far the toughest to do (cathe friedrich is the exception). I like the TAM because it swiches insructors, it really gets the heart rate up, and it gives u short breaks just when your about ready to sit back and give up. Ive been doing firm tapes for over a year now, i went from 140 and little muscle tone to 133, nice muscle tone. I still eat a healthy 1400 cals a day(and i cheat too soemtiems ;) These workouts are by far the best
