Product Description
The series may be called Sailor Moon, but Ms. Moon has a group of pals who help her battle evil. Two episodes of the phenomenally popular series are featured on this video: "Jupiter Comes Thundering In," in which a cute boy is plagued by nasty evils, and "Sailor Venus Makes the Scene," which finds Sailor Moon confronting a doppelganger. Both episodes feature gripping and looming alien-demons (which evolve from "normal" looking humans) that may frighten younger viewers, but for fans who must have these first shows, it's a must. Like the ubiquitous Olsen Twins, this Japanese anime series has undeniable appeal. Fans of the series clamor for tapes in English as well as in the original Japanese, and know the cosmology of Sailor Moon with the fervor of any Star Trek Trekker. Five series, movies, video games, and merchandise fill the Sailor Moon catalogue. Sailor Moon, whose daytime alter ego is 14-year-old Serena (in the English version, which this tape is), is a nice, if not typical girl-power creation. She hates studying, loves comic books, has a tendency to whine, acts before she thinks, and is more than a little boy-crazy. Perhaps this is why she's so appealing: she's easier to relate to than some saintly superhero. (Ages 5 and up) --N.F. Mendoza

    Summary: What can I say...
Comment: What can I say... other then that it is 2008, I am in my mid 20's and I still love everything about Sailor Moon. If you enjoyed watching Sailor Moon in the mornings... early 90's, then you will enjoy all the Edited VHS videos.

Summary: I felt someone needed to say this...
Comment: What DIC did with these, as well as other episodes of Sailormoon is an atrocity. Maybe they could have tried just a bit harder, or perhaps cared about the actual show than the 'TV Y' rating. Ugh. If anyone actually wishes to see Sailormoon as it is, avoid DIC's pile of garbage. Go find some fansubs of the real, uncut show as it appeared in Japan. You'll enjoy it a lot more.

I believe it's terrible that companies rush to buy the rights to an anime and then try to be unnecessarily politically correct by completely chopping up what once might have been a very entertaining show. It's happened with Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon (DIC's looking to slice and dice the S season), it's happened with Card Captor Sakura, and it's likely to happen with Escaflowne and anything else that comes over here. I really wish someone would look to the quality of the show which they are translating instead of looking for maximum profit.

Summary: Why did they have to change a character's gender?
Comment: I gave this video 2 stars because they changed a character's gender(Zoisite was a male in the original). I can take the music changes and the name changes because that is what they usually change in dubs, but changing a character's gender is too much. I'm not surprised they could pull it off though since he does look feminine and he once disguises himself as Sailor Moon.

    Summary: Jupiter and Venus Arrive!
Comment: In this dubbed version of Sailor Moon, you get to see Jupiter and Venus when they first arrive. The two episodes are not in order because Jupiter and Venus didn't appear right after the other did. In the episode of Jupiter comes Thundering in, Zocite is searching for the rainbow crystals and Lita gets in her way because of a newly found 'boyfriend.' Lita's friend has strang epowers that he uses to help ophans in need of toys. In this episode Jupiter comes in when she tries to save her friend. In the episode Venus makes the Scene, There is a fake Sailor Moon that is saving people. Serena and Lita see her and tell the other scouts about her. The scouts think that she might be a new Sailor Scout that wants to take Serena's place. Venus shows up at just the right time but Darien feel that the scouts hate him when they said that they didn't need his help anyway. All in all, I think that this movie is worth getting. It is good and I think that you will like it. It is a good movie for all ages. It entertains older and younger people, so no matter your age, Sailor Moon is a good has good lessons and at the end of every episode, there is a Sailor Says which states all of the important lessons that you should have learned. I think that it is worth getting.
