Customer Rating: Summary: Boar bristles in my baklava! Comment: I bought this pastry brush to use for brushing on melted butter when I make baklava. I had used silicone, but wanted better and more gentle coverage for phyllo dough. I used this brush once and it did "work" well. But after I ate 2 pieces of baklava, I noticed I had several fibers in my mouth! I am sure I ate a lot of the fibers - as did my guests. I will stick with silicone from now on. I am sure this is not a problem with all bristled pastry brushes. But if you do not like a sprinkling of boar hair in your food, then do not buy this!
Customer Rating: Summary: Falls apart Comment: I bought this because it was pretty cheap and I needed to get up to $25 to qualify for free shipping. I washed it before I used it, and the bristles frayed terrible when it dried and they are sticking out in all directions now. I tried to use it and little bristles kept falling out in my food! I put it in the dishwasher after the first use and now it's just about unusable. I usually love Oxo as a brand, but this product was very disappointing.
Customer Rating: Summary: For something that needs to be kept 'germ free'.... Comment: this item certainly was not packaged with any consideration of hygiene. As a matter of fact, it was not 'packaged' at all. Thus, we have a combination of Chinese (country of origin) germs, Amazon germs and middleman germs. At the very least, this brush should have been packed in a cheap plastic bag. Not a very auspicious start for this highly rated item...
Customer Rating: Summary: Would give no stars if it were an option Comment: After using only a few times, the bristles fell out in big clumps. I was using it to brush olive oil on filo dough when it starting falling apart, and I wondered if the oil had softened the glue that held them in. Will look for a replacement that uses something besides just glue to attach bristles to the handle.
Customer Rating: Summary: Fell Apart Completely Comment: I have many of the Oxo products and really like them. I liked this brush as well until bristles started falling out. Last week, it completely fell apart while I was hand washing it. The bristles detached from the brush handle. I bought it last December.
