Summary: one of the better kids' magazines
Comment: My son is 8 and a sports freak. When this magazine arrives in the mailbox, he jumps on it and reads every word. It helps him stay up on the latest so he can be the "expert" out on the playground!
As a mom, one thing I like about this magazine is that in addition to covering the major sports (baseball, football, etc.) they also have features about less common sports from time to time.
I wish there was a bit less advertising, of course, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. But it's much better than some other kids mags I've seen.
I thought about buying regular
Sports Illustrated for my son. He's an advanced reader and would be able to keep up, and it's certainly a better deal money-wise, what with it being a weekly publication. But another reviewer made a great comment here that I changed my mind: adult SI has lots of articles about athletes with drugs, personal life issues (divorce or whatnot), legal issues and so forth. These are not interesting or appropriate for my little boy. He doesn't want a scandal sheet, he just wants to read about *sports*, and that's the focus in SI for Kids.
(PS: based on other reviews for this and other magazines here on Amazon, I have taken to ordering all magazines directly from the publisher. I hope Amazon starts carrying more reliable magazine distributors because it would be nice to handle all my subs right here.)
