Product Description
How to know when the cake is done? There's the broom bristle method (yuck), the finger tap method (unreliable), and the toothpick method (only works with shallow cakes). If you love to bake make sure you get the best results for your efforts and use a real, genuine cake tester.
Customer Rating: Summary: Ummm...... Comment: has anyone ever tried using a knife or a skewer for this task??
As Alton Brown says, "No unitaskers are allowed in my kitchen."
Customer Rating: Summary: cake tester Comment: This cake tester works well. It is nice and light. I have already used it twice, and I just bought it!
Customer Rating: Summary: No more tooth pick wasting! Comment: It is so thin and works well. It's just great because I don't have to continue buying toothpicks or skewers to check cakes and breads. If you're a life time baker this is definitely for you!
Customer Rating: Summary: great idea Comment: Always used toothpicks but when I bought this I love it and never forget to get it out when baking.
Customer Rating: Summary: A must for every kitchen Comment: Tired of the toothpick not being long enough or the butter knife that leaves an ugly slit/cut in your baked creation? If you are, then this is the product for you. Sturdy finger grip and long stainless steel rod makes it so much easier to test for "done-ness". The only reason I give it four stars instead of 5 is because the rod can easily be bent if you apply to much pressure or just throw in a drawer with other utensils. For $2.00 it's well worth it, and for that price everyone should have one.
