Product Description
The DeWalt DW1956 16 Piece Pilot Point Twist Drill Bit Assortment comes with pilot point tips for starts on contact that result in clean, accurate holes. These bits are designed to reduce lock-up on breakthrough, and also feature a no-spin shank that eliminates the frustration of bit spinning in the chuck. Summary: Love DeWalt
Comment: Great bits, work good in my dewalt cordless drill. The case they come in is worth the price alone.

    Summary: Goods bits
Comment: This is the second set of these bits I have purchased; the first set disappeared from a job site. After I got this set from Amazon, I saw similar/same set at Lowes for a few bucks less: I was surprised! But still a very good product.

    Summary: Not too impressed
Comment: They were real good in the begining. Pilot point worked as advertised. But within a year, half are way too dull. A few are out of shape. The makita drills I had in a different combination set I bought were not as precise but they are still useful. My usage has been about 60% wood and 40% drywall/wood combination. May be it will do better for some one who uses for wood only. I am not a contractor but do use it quite often around the house.

    Summary: Great value
Comment: Great set of drill bits for somebody doing misc. tasks around the house. I bought it to help hang pictures, hooks, etc and it has everything needed. Not sure you can get a better value at $20.

    Summary: OK general purpose bits
Comment: I've been using these bits for general purpose construction of my house for the last 7 months. For drilling lumber they work well but are very aggressive (as another reviewer pointed out). You need to be very careful not to let the larger bits bite and start screwing into the work piece. Other than that, the pilot point seems to work as intended and really cuts down on bit walk.

I just recently tried to use the 1/2" bit to drill some 1/4" mild steel plate. After the first hole, the bit was dull and useless. I'm not sure if it was a factory defect or if the bits are just not intended for this type of work. One interesting observation is that the bits do not seem to get hot while drilling into metal.
