Product Description
Over 35,000 fans have demanded it, and so it has come. That’s how many rabid "Freaks and Geeks" fans have signed a petition via the Internet to plead for its release on DVD. "Freaks and Geeks," the Emmy® award-winning series about the trials and tribulations of high school outsiders in 1980 Michigan is finally coming out on DVD in its original form, with all the original music. And believe us – clearing over 130 music cues from the likes of The Who, Billy Joel, Bob Seger and their peers was no easy task.

"Freaks and Geeks" ran for only one television season, but arguably remains the most sought-after series yet to be released on DVD. Just 18 episodes were made, but its legend has exploded over time. Cast members have gone on to stardom, articles have continued to be written, internet activity abounds. Shout! Factory celebrates this incredible television series with the passionate treatment it deserves.

Box set features:
- The complete series – all 18 episodes on 6 DVDs, including the director’s cut of the pilot, with never-before-seen footage.
- Deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes footage and outtakes.
- 29 audio commentaries by the actors, writers, directors, network executives, parents of cast members and obsessive fans.

    Summary: American Beauty
Comment: I'm glad that NBC cancelled this series, because if Apatow and Feig and Company had been given the green light to continue shooting more than 18 episodes, it's difficult to imagine that their dramatic and comedic brilliance could have been sustained much longer.

As it is, the episodes we do have of "Freaks and Geeks" form a perfect arc for the central character of Lindsay, and her surprise summer detour at series' end, to the accompaniment of the Grateful Dead, is one of the most touching finales ever created for television.

Congratulations to all those involved for creating a multi-faceted and ageless jewel of which they should all be supremely proud -- the writing is superlative and the ensemble acting is of the highest rank.

American Beauty indeed -- an Amazon ranking of "five stars" doesn't do "Freaks and Geeks" justice.

Summary: One of the Best of All Time
Comment: As a fan of Judd Apatow's recent movies, I was thrilled to learn that he also served as an Executive Producer and writer on "Freaks and Geeks," which also starred some of the best actors from his film. So I came for the Judd Apatow humor... and stayed for everything. "Freaks and Geeks" is an utterly flawless high school comedy drama that is acted by some of the most talented young people around and written by truly hilarious people who bring out the funny in every day life, and are also deeply aware of the aches and pains of high school life. It's one of the most realistic shows ever, finding humor in awkward facial expressions and naturalistic (but still highly quotable dialogue), and merely watching will show how much fun the cast and crew had in making this brilliant show.

The storylines are about a group of "freaks" (stoners and the like) and a group of "geeks" in high school. The stories often overlap, and the various stereotypes of day to day high school life are studied, torn apart, and rendered utterly real. Seeing the different groups interact is so great, and I love that each character is given a chance to develop and have a really strong backstory. They're all hilarious, they're all heartbreaking in their own way, and their character arcs are all done in such an achingly real way.

The best way that I can describe it is like My So-Called Life meets Superbad, because the way that they manage to balance the true to life drama with the comedy is superhuman. It's hard to talk about the show, really, because talking at length about either the cast or the writing comes off as gushing, because it's all just so damn good. But what the heck. I'll gush away. The cast is fantastic, from the mathlete turned freak Linda Cardellini to her geek brother John Francis-Daley to the drum obsessed Jason Segel to the snarky Seth Rogen to the bad boy James Franco to the awkward Martin Starr and everyone else, they're all fantastic and they all transcend their roles and any stereotypical adjectives I can apply to them.

Quite simply, this show rocks. If you like television, you need to own this. If you ever went to high school, you need to own this. It's universally enjoyable, heartbreaking, and hilarious. I'm in love with the Freaks and Geeks of McKinley High School.

    10/10 Classic.

    Summary: An absolute must have
Comment: What a shame the series ran only one season. It is so well written and perfectly cast. My 15 year old started to watch it with me and I later found him in the middle of the night finishing the whole series! The added features, outtakes and commentary are fun to watch too. It is well worth every penny, don't miss this one.
