The GE SmartWater Inline Refrigerator Filter Replacement (GXRLQR) is the replacement filter for the GXRLQ Inline Filter Kit. If you've already installed the GXRLQ kit then you can order this replacement filter from now on. If you have not installed the GXRLQ filter kit yet, you'll need to do that before you can use this replacement filter. It improves the taste and odor of the water and removes the following impurities: 99.99 % of Cysts, 99% of Particulates (Class I), 99% of Turbidity, 99% of Lead, 97% of Chlorine, 76% of Atrazine (a herbicide), and 99% of Lindane (a pesticide). It does not remove flouride. GE recommends that you replace the filter every 6 months OR if the refrigerator has not been used for more than two weeks (for instance, during a move) OR if you notice a decrease in the flow of water, hollow ice cubes, or objectionable tastes in the water or ice.
