Comment: This product was recommended to me by a chef at a B and B in southern MN. I have used it for a few years and my son asked about it when here cooking with me this summer. I purchased one for him and one for my son-in-law who is another avid home chef! We all find it very effective and easy to use. So, we now keep our kitchen knives sharp at all times and it's an even greater delight to cook now. My son is also an avid sportsman and it keeps his hunting and filet knives in tip top shape as well. This sharpener is safe and small enough to take on trips. We all love it.

Summary: Sharpens Well, But Case Flaps Break
Comment: This little knife sharpener is a neat item and could be a five-star product if they used the right kind of material for the flap hinges. The case is held shut by two flaps made with plastic/rubber hinges. One of the flaps broke off after using it about ten times - the store where I bought it gave me a replacement sharpener and I was very careful not to bend or stress the hinges too much - but even though, one of the flaps broke off the second sharpener after about 20 uses.

The hinges aren't made of the right material for repetitive opening and closing - they fatigue within the first few uses and then break off. Once the flaps break off, there is no way to secure the clam shell case other than with a rubber band.

If they fixed this design flaw and made a durable hinge, I would certainly buy another one, but at this point I couldn't recommend the product.

Comment: Haven't used this knife sharpener only a couple of times thus far - have the Furi knife and decided to try it - be careful opening the sharpener. Once used, I found that the blade edge of the knife sharpened well. Am happy with this purchase.
