It's poorly designed and made. The flap facing you goes slamming down each time you open the top. I bought this thing as a present for my wife thinking that I'm getting her something nice (more expensive than an average jewelry box) and instead I was embarrassed because it turned out to be such a piece of crap.

Customer Rating: Summary: Cute and lots of compartments Comment: This box is very cute...but as soon as i opened the jewelry box, the white satin ribbon that holds the mirror top UP, ripped out of the box and the mirror does not stay up. i tried fixing it, no luck. i wish that they not just glued that part but stapled it or something because the top cover with the mirror is pretty heavy! i fitted all my earrings, necklaces and rings. Big bracelets will not fit. You can fit a lot of stud earrings-it comes with like 3 clear plastic things with holes in it so you can insert them right in like into your ears. Also enough for at least 10-20 rings.
