Summary: Planning on buying a 2nd Aerogarden
Comment: I've had my Aerogarden Pro100 for about one year, and I'm very pleased. I had compared it to other brands, and decided that since this was self-contained and practically dummy proof that it was a good choice for me. I also bought the salad greens kit because I wanted quick results the first time, and it grew well.
By spring I had grown two salad greens kits, which produced two to three salads for two people each week for several weeks. I bought the special insert to start seeds to go outside (with 70 holes and plugs). After years of not being able to start my own seedlings, I started both my spring and summer vegetable gardens successfully. I even started a pot of alpine strawberries in the Aerogarden.
I am currently growing the tomatoes. There are three to the kit, not seven, but there isn't room for seven tomatoes. The instructions say to prune the tomatoes to make them stronger, and I've already used the Master Gardener kit to root my tomato prunings. I'm hoping to buy another unit soon, move the tomato plants to the new unit and use the extended season tabs to feed the tomatoes. If I'm still growing and pruning the tomatoes in the spring, I'm hoping to start cuttings for my patio tomatoes from the existing Aerogarden tomatoes.
I had the problem with the bad motor, but Aerogarden customer service was very helpful and promptly replaced both the motor and the salad greens kit. All in all, I really like this unit.
