Summary: too basic to be of use
Comment: To those complaining of incorrect treatment of income or expenses, for years this has been the case with TurboTax.
I've always used TurboTax and I can't remember a single return that was correct without substantial editing. Anytime you get off the beaten track (partnerships, trusts, Katrina damage, etc) its a deficient app. You must check your returns and insure the manner in which deductions are being handled makes sense.
You also have to check what's printed on the forms. Last year I got a letter from the IRS about forms not substantiating the deductions taken on the 1040. Crazy, but what I was seeing on the screen was not what was being printed out on the returns. Not a financial issue but another waste of time, and exposure to an audit, courtesy of Intuit.
With the Basic version now stripped of much of its functionality, I guess Intuit expects us to fork over twice the price for the same, poor, level of functionality that used to be in Basic.
Overpriced products that don't work correctly are not a winning combination. At some point the users will have the last laugh.

Summary: price going up, feature going down
Comment: I started using Turbotax almost ten years ago, and as Taxcut quality improved and TurboTax kept raising prices, I switched to Taxcut three years ago. This year, after a friend's recommendation, I tried to use Turbotax again, what a piece of junk. TaxCut imports pretty much all the information from TurboTax files, but TurboTax DOES NOT. All TurboTax users should switch to TaxCut, TaxCut is easier to use, covers all the issues, and cheaper. TurboTax has nothing to compete with other than a longer time brand name.
